What is the fastest way to train Hunter in OSRS?
The fastest Hunter training method is catching Black chinchompas at level 73+ in the Wilderness, which provides 140K-220K XP per hour but carries PK risk. For safer training, Red chinchompas at 63+ offer 130K-180K XP per hour with profit. Birdhouse runs provide 40K-50K XP per hour passively at 5 Crafting. Herbiboar at 80+ gives 110K-140K XP per hour with good profit. Early levels: Birds (1-15), Falconry (43-60), or Red salamanders (59-63) are most efficient.
What are Birdhouse runs and should I do them?
Birdhouse runs are a passive Hunter training method requiring 5 Crafting and unlocking Fossil Island. You craft birdhouses, place them in designated spots with seeds, and return after 50 minutes to collect birds and nests. Each run takes 2-3 minutes and provides 2K-5K XP. At 4 runs per day, you gain 40K-50K passive XP daily. Birdhouses are highly recommended for all accounts as they're quick, profitable (bird nest rewards), and require minimal effort.
Can you make money training Hunter?
Yes, Hunter is very profitable! Black chinchompas at 73+ provide 500K-1M GP per hour in the Wilderness, Red chinchompas at 63+ offer 400K-700K GP per hour safely, Herbiboar at 80+ gives 300K-500K GP per hour, and catching Dragon implings provides massive profit but requires 83+ Hunter and luck. Birdhouse runs generate 100K-200K GP per run. Even lower-level methods like Red salamanders (59+) can be profitable. Hunter is one of the best money-making skills.
What is the difference between Red and Black chinchompas?
Red chinchompas (63 Hunter) are caught in a safe area near Feldip Hills and provide 130K-180K XP per hour with 400K-700K GP per hour. Black chinchompas (73 Hunter) are caught in the Wilderness (level 32-36) and provide 140K-220K XP per hour with 500K-1M GP per hour. Black chins offer better XP and profit but carry significant PKer risk. Most players train with Red chins for safety, only doing Black chins if comfortable with Wilderness PvP.
What is the Herbiboar and how do I hunt it?
The Herbiboar is a Hunter activity on Fossil Island requiring 80 Hunter and 31 Herblore. You track the Herbiboar through the jungle by examining objects and following trails, then catch it using herbs as bait. It provides 110K-140K Hunter XP per hour, 20K-30K Herblore XP per hour, and 300K-500K GP per hour from herb drops. It's considered one of the best mid-to-high level Hunter training methods due to its engaging gameplay, good XP, and profit.
Should I hunt implings for training?
Implings can be profitable but aren't the fastest XP. Catching implings provides varied loot and can be done with or without jars. Dragon implings (83+) offer excellent profit (200K-500K per catch) but are rare. Kourend Castle and Puro-Puro are popular impling hunting locations. Implings are better suited for casual money-making than serious training. For pure Hunter XP, chinchompas, Herbiboar, or Birdhouse runs are more efficient. However, implings add variety to training.
How long does it take to get 99 Hunter?
Getting 99 Hunter takes approximately 100-200 hours depending on methods. Using Black chinchompas (180K-220K XP/hour) takes 75-90 hours with high profit. Red chinchompas (130K-180K XP/hour) take 90-130 hours safely. Herbiboar (110K-140K XP/hour) takes 115-145 hours with decent profit. Including passive Birdhouse runs cuts training time significantly. Most players achieve 99 Hunter in 3-6 months using a mix of methods, making it a moderate-speed skill with excellent profit potential throughout.
