01Can I fish from my boat in OSRS?
Yes — the 5 August 2026 update added fishing at sea. Fixed 5x5 tile fishing spots let you catch the same fish, at the same rates, with the same tools as on land. Sloops and Skiffs support rod fishing (Sardines, Herrings, Anglerfish), while the Raft supports harpoon, net, and lobster pot fishing (Shrimp, Bass, Sharks, Lobsters, Tuna, Swordfish, Karambwan, Monkfish). 02What is the fastest way to train Fishing in OSRS?
The fastest Fishing training method is 3-tick Barbarian Fishing at level 58+, which provides 100K-110K XP per hour while also training Strength and Agility. For more AFK training, Drift Net Fishing at level 47+ offers 85K+ XP per hour. At level 82+, Minnows provide 45K-50K XP per hour while being very AFK and profitable. For early levels, fly fishing trout and salmon from level 20-58 is recommended.
03How do I get the Angler's outfit?
The Angler's outfit is obtained from the Fishing Trawler minigame in Port Khazard. Each game takes approximately 10 minutes and rewards pieces of Angler gear randomly. On average, it takes 6-8 hours to obtain the full set. The outfit provides a 2.5% Fishing XP bonus when worn, which saves approximately 30-40 hours when training to 99 Fishing, making it worthwhile to obtain early.
04What is Barbarian Fishing and how does it work?
Barbarian Fishing is unlocked by speaking to Otto Godblessed near Barbarian Outpost. It allows you to fish for Leaping trout (level 48), Leaping salmon (level 58), and Leaping sturgeon (level 70) using a Barbarian rod and fishing bait. The unique benefit is that Barbarian Fishing provides Fishing, Strength, and Agility XP simultaneously. It's the fastest Fishing training method when done with 3-tick manipulation.
05Can you make money training Fishing?
Yes, several Fishing methods are profitable! Minnows at level 82+ provide 500K-600K GP per hour, Anglerfish at level 82+ offer 300K-400K GP per hour, Karambwan fishing at level 65+ gives 250K-350K GP per hour, and Sacred eels at level 87+ provide 400K+ GP per hour. Dark crabs and Infernal eels are also profitable but require access to the Wilderness. Minnows offer the best profit-to-XP ratio.
06What are the requirements for Aerial Fishing?
Aerial Fishing needs 35 Hunter and 43 Fishing with a cormorant at Lake Molch. After the 19 August 2026 update: quick-catch radius 5x5->7x7, unlockable auto-eat toggle from Alry the Angler (cormorant eats inventory fish without bait), periodic large pools for downtime, Molch pearl chance +50%, sack cost 1000->500 pearls and outfit pieces 100->50, plus Shark lure packs (100 lures for 1 pearl).
07What is the best fishing spot for AFK training?
The best AFK fishing spots are Minnows at level 82+ (extremely AFK and profitable), Anglerfish at level 82+ (very AFK and good profit), Sacred eels at level 87+ (AFK with profit), and Monkfish at level 62+ (decent AFK XP). Karambwan with the Karamja gloves 3/4 teleport is also excellent for semi-AFK training. All these methods allow for 1-3 minute AFK intervals with decent XP rates.
08How long does it take to get 99 Fishing?
Getting 99 Fishing takes approximately 150-250 hours depending on your methods. Using 3-tick Barbarian Fishing (110K XP/hour), it takes around 120-140 hours. With Drift Net Fishing (85K XP/hour), expect 180-200 hours. AFK methods like Minnows (50K XP/hour) take 260-280 hours. Most players achieve 99 Fishing in 3-5 months of regular play, making it a moderately fast skill to max.
09How do Shark lures work for harpoon fishing?
Shark lures buff harpoon fishing (live 2 Sept 2026, clarified 3 Sept): 1 lure = 50% chance 5 ticks->4; 3 lures = always 5->4; 5 lures = always 5->4 plus 50% chance 4->3. Buy Shark lure packs (100 lures, 1 Molch pearl) from Alry the Angler. They stack with dragon/crystal harpoon bonuses in the calculator.
