High-Confidence Training Routes
Milestones That Matter
- 45: Maples open up better AFK pacing.
- 61: Efficiency setup starts paying off heavily.
- 75: Magic trees for low-effort sessions.
- 77: Bloodwood trees - competitive XP + Seeker arrows.
- 90: Redwoods for top-tier AFK consistency.
- 99: Capstone goal; choose XP speed or profit style.
Execution Checklist
- Pick one lane for your next target bracket.
- Train on Forestry worlds unless your route requires otherwise.
- Upgrade to felling setup once it materially improves your session XP.
- Re-evaluate at 61, 75, and 90 instead of changing methods every few levels.
🌲 The Forestry Update
Woodcutting was reworked in June 2023 with the Forestry update. Here are the key changes:
⏱️ Timer-Based Depletion
Trees now deplete based on timers instead of random chances, making training more predictable.
👥 Social Bonus
+1 Woodcutting boost for every player chopping the same tree (capped at +10). This makes popular spots much better!
🎪 Forestry Events
Special events spawn regularly: Ritual, Rising Roots, Flowering Tree, Leprechaun, Poachers, Enchantment, Beehive, and Struggling Sapling.
🎁 Forestry Rewards
Earn Anima-Infused Bark from events to unlock Felling Axes, Log Baskets, and Lumberjack Outfit pieces.
📋 Forestry Worlds:
- • World 388 (AUS)
- • World 398 (GER)
- • World 434 (US West)
- • World 444 (US West)
- • World 487 (US East)
- • World 510 (UK)
Important: Don't use the Woodcutting Guild - Forestry boost doesn't work there!
💡 Getting Started: Pick up your free Forestry Kit from the Freaky Forester in Draynor Village or Seers' Village!
🪓 Axes & Equipment
Regular Axes
One-handed and affordable. Great to start with, but switch to Felling Axes at 61 Woodcutting for faster XP.
- • Level 1: Bronze/Iron Axe
- • Level 6: Steel Axe
- • Level 21: Mithril Axe
- • Level 31: Adamant Axe
- • Level 41: Rune Axe
- • Level 61: Dragon Axe
- • Song of the Elves: Crystal Axe
Felling Axes (Recommended!)
Two-handed axes that provide 10% experience boost. Essential for efficient training!
Example: Yew trees give 193 XP with Felling Axe vs 175 XP with regular axeDrawbacks:
- • Must be fueled with 1 Forester's Ration per log cut
- • 20% chance of not receiving the log
How to Obtain: Buy from GE or craft with Felling Axe Handle (10,000 Anima-Infused Bark from Forestry Reward Shop)
Lumberjack Outfit
Provides 2.5% XP boost with full set. Can be obtained from Forestry Rewards (recommended) or Temple Trekking.
Forestry Rewards Priority
Spend your Anima-Infused Bark in this order:
- Felling Axe Handle (10,000 Bark) - +10% XP
- Log Basket (varies) - holds 28 logs
- Lumberjack Outfit (varies) - +2.5% XP
😴 AFK Woodcutting Training Path
Train on Forestry World 444 for the +10 level boost and bonus XP from events.
Levels 1-15: Regular Trees
Start behind Lumbridge Castle
Location: Lumbridge (behind the castle)
Tip: Drop logs or sell to General Store
Levels 15-30: Oak Trees
Draynor Village on Forestry world
Location: Draynor Village bank
Important: Hop to World 444 for Forestry bonus and events!
Levels 30-60: Willow Trees
Better XP than Yews, but less AFK
Location: Draynor Village (World 444)
Tree Duration: 30 seconds (requires clicking every 30s)
Alternative: Switch to Maple trees at 45 for more AFK (60s duration)
Optional: Levels 45+: Maple Trees
More AFK alternative to Willows
Location: Seers' Village (behind bank)
Tree Duration: 60 seconds (2x longer than Willows)
Bonus: +10% XP with Kandarin Medium Diary
Levels 60-90: Yew Trees
Great AFK and profitable
Location: Seers' Village Church (or Prifddinas if Song of the Elves completed)
Tree Duration: 114 seconds (~2 minutes) - only ~30 clicks/hour!
Why Yews? Perfect balance of AFK, XP, and profit
Optional: Levels 75+: Magic Trees
Most AFK, but slower XP
Location: Myths' Guild (or Seers' Village/Prifddinas)
Tree Duration: 3 minutes 54 seconds - only ~15 clicks/hour!
Trade-off: Lower XP for maximum AFK
Levels 90-99: Redwood Trees ⭐ BEST AFK
Perfect balance of AFK and XP
Location: Woodcutting Guild (back of the guild)
Tree Duration: 4 minutes 24 seconds per session
Invisible Boost: +7 Woodcutting levels in the guild
📦 Required Equipment:
- • Dragon/Crystal Felling Axe (+10% XP)
- • Log Basket or Forestry Basket (holds 28 extra logs)
- • Lumberjack or Forestry Outfit (+2.5% XP)
Optional: Levels 62-90: Blisterwood Trees
Extreme AFK alternative
Location: Center of Darkmeyer
Requirements: Start Sins of the Father quest (for Darkmeyer access)
Tree Behavior: Never depletes! 1/10 chance to stop cutting each log
Best for: True AFK - tree never moves, just random stops
Levels 77+: Bloodwood Trees (Vampyrium)
Up to 220k XP/hr — best Woodcutting XP in game
Requirements: 77 Woodcutting, completion of The Blood Moon Rises (Grandmaster quest)
Location: South of Ruined Village in Vampyrium. 3 trees exactly 4 tiles apart — cycle all three simultaneously.
How It Works: Place a bucket, then click your character twice to pull your axe back, then click the tree. Repeat until the sap bar starts draining. While draining, work on cutting other trees, then click back to renew the bleeding bar (no axe pull-back needed on refills). Once the bucket fills, click to collect — auto-replaces with fresh bucket.
Rotating 3 trees: Chop tree 1 → move to tree 2 → when tree 1's bar depletes, click back to refill → continue the cycle. Each refill grants 1,364 XP. This rotation is ~220k XP/hr — the single highest Woodcutting XP rate in OSRS.
Important Differences from Normal Trees:
- • Lumberjack outfit does NOT boost XP
- • No Forestry events or invisible level boost
- • No nests, leaves, or logs
- • Log basket cannot hold sap buckets
- • Black axes are the SLOWEST — use Dragon or Crystal
- • Forester's rations NOT consumed with felling axe
Unique Output: Bloodwood sap (90-100 buckets/hr active). Used to craft Seeker arrows — a +20 Ranged accuracy, +3 minimum hit ammo upgrade. Apply to existing arrows or craft from logs. Higher-tier logs = more arrow shafts (Redwood yields 105 shafts per sap bucket).

⚡ Fastest Way to 99 Woodcutting
Levels 35-99: Teak Trees (Prifddinas) 🏆
Currently the fastest method with Forestry
Location: Prifddinas (World 444)
Requirements: Song of the Elves quest
Tree Duration: 30 seconds (120 clicks/hour - not AFK!)
⚡ Why So Fast?
- • +10 Woodcutting boost from Forestry world (10 players)
- • Bonus XP from Forestry events (Fox, Flowers, Ritual, etc.)
- • Full Lumberjack outfit + Crystal Felling Axe = 12.5% bonus
Note: Bank is far away, must shift-drop logs. Requires good Forestry event RNG for 130k/hr rates.
Levels 65-99: Sulliusceps
Alternative fast method
Location: Tar Swamp (Fossil Island)
Requirements:
- • 65 Woodcutting
- • Bone Voyage quest (Fossil Island access)
- • Rake, Antipoison, Food
- • Dragonfire shield or ranged defense gear
How It Works:
- 1. Fill Rubber Cap Mushroom pit with 9 Bittercap mushrooms
- 2. Chop Sulliusceps in route order (#1-6)
- 3. Use Magic Mushtree to teleport back to start
- 4. Avoid/tank Tar monsters (level 132, use ranged)
⚠️ Warnings: You'll be attacked and poisoned. Bring antipoison and food. Take 50 damage if pit isn't filled!
Levels 77-99: Bloodwood Trees (Vampyrium) ⭐ FASTEST
Best Woodcutting XP in game — 220k/hr cycling 3 trees
Location: South of Ruined Village, Vampyrium (3 trees, 4 tiles apart)
Requirements:
- • 77 Woodcutting
- • Completion of The Blood Moon Rises (Grandmaster quest)
- • Dragon or Crystal axe (not Black — Black axes are bugged/slower here)
- • Empty bucket (free from Aranei bucket dealer nearby)
Why It's Worth It:
- • 220k XP/hr cycling all 3 trees — this beats tick-manipulation Teaks and is the single best Woodcutting XP method in OSRS
- • No tick manipulation needed — the rotation is rhythmic but straightforward: chop, click character twice to pull axe, click tree. Refill bleeding bars without re-pulling
- • Produces 90–100 buckets of Bloodwood sap per hour for Seeker arrows (tradeable ammo upgrade)
- • Free buckets from the Aranei bucket dealer
Note: Lumberjack outfit does NOT boost XP here. No Forestry events. No nests or logs — pure XP + sap output.
Levels 35-99: Teak Trees (Alternative Locations)
If you can't access Prifddinas
Locations:
- • Ape Atoll (requires Monkey Madness I)
- • Southwest of Castle Wars
Downside: No Forestry boost or events at these spots (not popular in Forestry worlds)
Tick Manipulation: Can reach 220k XP/hr with 3-tick manipulation (very click-intensive, not covered in this guide)
💰 Making Money With Woodcutting
Forestry made Woodcutting profitable again! Here's how:
Old Method: Selling Logs
- Yew Logs: 50k GP/hr
- Magic Logs: 130k GP/hr
- Redwood Logs: 100k GP/hr
New Method: Felling Axe Handles 🎯
Sell Felling Axe Handles on the Grand Exchange for massive profit!
Felling Axe Handle: 2.6M GP
Cost: 10,000 Anima-Infused Bark (Forestry Reward Shop)
Bark Rate: ~1,000 Bark/hour
Time Per Handle: 10 hours = 2.6M = 260k GP/hr extra!
- Yews + Forestry: 50k (logs) + 260k (bark) = 310k GP/hr
- Magics + Forestry: 130k (logs) + 260k (bark) = 390k GP/hr
💎 Total Profit Examples:
- • Yews to 99: 300 hours × 310k = 93M GP
- • Magics to 99: 400 hours × 390k = 150M GP
New in 2026: Seeker Arrows from Bloodwood Sap
Bloodwood trees (77 Woodcutting, Vampyrium) produce Bloodwood sap — used to create Seeker arrows, a tradeable ammunition upgrade. 90–100 buckets of sap per hour at full intensity. Each bucket treats 15 arrows/headless arrows/arrow shafts. Using Redwood logs yields 105 arrow shafts per sap bucket.
Seeker Arrow Profit Path:
- • Chop Bloodwood trees for sap + Woodcutting XP (up to 220k XP/hr cycling 3 trees)
- • Apply sap to arrows — Seeking amethyst arrows earn ~2.1M GP more per 10500 shafts vs regular
- • Sell Seeker arrows on GE — premium over standard arrows due to +20 Ranged accuracy and +3 minimum hit

Frequently Asked Questions
01What's the fastest way to 99 Woodcutting?
Teak Trees in Prifddinas on Forestry World 444 (90-130k XP/hr). Requires Song of the Elves and shift-dropping logs.
02What's the most AFK method?
Redwood Trees at 90+ (4 min 24s per session, 60-70k XP/hr). Magic Trees at 75+ are even more AFK (3 min 54s) but slower XP (20-30k/hr).
03Is Woodcutting profitable?
Yes! With Forestry, you can make 310-390k GP/hr from Felling Axe Handles plus log sales. Training to 99 can profit 93-150M GP.
04What are Forestry worlds?
Worlds 388, 398, 434, 444, 487, and 510. You get +1 Woodcutting per player (max +10) and bonus XP from events. Always train on these!
05Should I get a Felling Axe?
Yes at 61 Woodcutting! Felling Axes provide 10% XP boost (huge). Requires 1 Forester's Ration per log and has 20% chance not to give log.
06Is the Lumberjack outfit worth it?
Yes, 2.5% XP boost saves time. Get it from Forestry Rewards (easier than Temple Trekking). Combined with Felling Axe = 12.5% total boost!
07Should I use the Woodcutting Guild?
Not for training! Forestry boost doesn't work in the guild. Only go there for Redwood trees at 90+ (still worth it for +7 invisible boost).
08What is Bloodwood Woodcutting?
New in June 2026 with The Blood Moon Rises quest. Bloodwood trees in Vampyrium (77 Woodcutting) offer 60-75k XP/hr semi-AFK to 90k+ XP/hr with high-intensity play. You also harvest Bloodwood sap used to craft Seeker arrows - a +20 Ranged accuracy ammunition upgrade. Competitive rates at the top end.
