Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fastest way to train Firemaking in OSRS?

The fastest Firemaking training method is burning logs in Wintertodt at level 50+, which provides 200K-300K XP per hour while being relatively AFK and profitable. For pure speed outside Wintertodt, burning Redwood logs at level 90+ gives 450K XP per hour, Magic logs at 75+ offer 390K XP per hour, and Yew logs at 60+ provide 300K XP per hour. However, these traditional methods cost money, while Wintertodt generates profit.

What is Wintertodt and how does it work?

Wintertodt is a group-based Firemaking activity located in the Wintertodt Prison in Great Kourend. Players work together to subdue Wintertodt by burning logs, repairing braziers, and feeding the braziers. It requires level 50 Firemaking and provides 200K-300K Firemaking XP per hour, plus profit from supply crates (300K-500K GP per hour). It's the most popular Firemaking training method because it's profitable, relatively AFK, and less repetitive than traditional log burning.

How do I get the Pyromancer outfit?

The Pyromancer outfit is obtained exclusively from Wintertodt supply crates. Each piece of the outfit provides a small XP bonus, and the full set grants a 2.5% Firemaking XP boost. On average, you'll obtain the full set within 50-100 Wintertodt kills (10-20 hours of gameplay). The outfit pieces are guaranteed drops after a certain number of crates, with the hood typically being the last piece. The XP boost works at Wintertodt itself, making it worthwhile to obtain early.

Can you make money training Firemaking?

Yes, Wintertodt is the only Firemaking training method that generates profit! At level 50+ Firemaking with decent stats in other skills, you can earn 300K-500K GP per hour from supply crates while gaining 200K-300K Firemaking XP per hour. The rewards include valuable items like seeds, herbs, ores, logs, and uniques like the Tome of Fire and Phoenix pet. Traditional log burning (burning logs in lines) always costs money as you're consuming logs.

Should I train Firemaking at low hitpoints for Wintertodt?

Yes, many players train Firemaking at Wintertodt with 10 HP because damage taken is based on your current Hitpoints level. Lower HP means less food consumption, making each game faster and more efficient. However, doing Wintertodt at 10 HP means you'll need to be more careful with food management. After completing Wintertodt training, you can train your HP normally. This strategy is popular but not strictly necessary.

What is the best location to train Firemaking traditionally?

For traditional log burning, the Grand Exchange is the most popular location due to its long straight paths and proximity to a bank. Varrock West Bank is another common spot. The key is finding a long, unobstructed path where you can burn logs in a line without interruption. Some players prefer quieter areas to avoid competing for space. Remember that burning logs in lines is faster than Wintertodt but costs money and is more click-intensive.

How long does it take to get 99 Firemaking?

Getting 99 Firemaking takes approximately 50-75 hours using Wintertodt (200K-300K XP/hour), making it one of the faster 99s. Traditional methods like burning Redwood logs (450K XP/hour) can achieve 99 in 30-35 hours but cost 50-100M GP. Burning Magic logs (390K XP/hour) takes 35-40 hours with similar costs. Most players choose Wintertodt because it's profitable, relatively AFK, and takes only 2-3 months of casual play to reach 99.
