Wyrmscraig is out now. Old School's player-designed island — created by community member Gnome (RoseNMcGeet) through the Player Designed Island competition — launched on 29 July 2026 with the Fallen From Grace quest, the repeatable Mad Angel boss, the new Mortimer Slayer Master, and two skilling activities: Sunstone Golem Crafting and Goat Hunting.
This guide covers everything that actually shipped, from quest requirements to Hallowfell's drop mechanics to Mortimer's task system.
Quick Requirements
To get on the island and start the quest:
| Requirement | Level |
|---|---|
| Sailing | 62 (sail to the island) |
| Crafting | 60 (Golem Crafting) |
| Runecraft | 47 (quest) |
| Mining | 53 (quest, Sunstone mining) |
| Hunter | 60 (Goat Hunting, needs Sheep Herder quest done) |
The quest Fallen From Grace is Experienced-tier, Short length. Start it by speaking to Cormac in the village of Auchrie. Completing it unlocks the repeatable boss, Sunstone Golem Crafting & Mining, and the island teleports.
Quest Rewards
- 10,000 Crafting XP
- 12,500 Sailing XP
- 5,000 Mining XP
- 5,000 Runecraft XP
- Access to the repeatable Mad Angel boss
- Access to Sunstone Golem Crafting & Mining
- Teleports: Slayer Ring → Wyrmscraig's cavern, Necklace of Passage → Wyrmscraig (south of Sunstone mine)
Hallowfell — Multi-Target Melee Weapon
Hallowfell is the unique drop from the Mad Angel. It is a two-handed weapon requiring 75 Attack, aimed at mid-game players who have obtained a Fire Cape and are progressing through PvM.
Core Mechanics
Hallowfell cleaves through nearby enemies: when you strike a primary target, it damages up to two additional enemies in the three tiles in front of you and the two tiles adjacent to you.
- AoE shape: Wider than Scythe of Vitur — covers a front-facing cone rather than Scythe's linear sweep
- Damage split: The second and third targets take damage at 50% of your max hit (not halved again per target like Scythe)
- Unique targets only: Cannot multi-hit the same large enemy — Hallowfell hits different targets, not the same target multiple times
- Max DPS potential: Against three targets, Hallowfell is the strongest melee weapon in the game when you can maintain consistent triple-target cleaving — Jagex confirmed it outperforms every other melee weapon in this scenario
Hallowfell vs Scythe of Vitur
| Feature | Hallowfell | Scythe of Vitur |
|---|---|---|
| Requirement | 75 Attack | 80 Attack, 90 Strength |
| Target tier | Mid-game (post-Fire Cape) | Endgame |
| AoE shape | Front-facing cone (3 tiles + 2 adjacent) | Linear 3-tile sweep |
| Multi-hit damage | 50% to targets 2 and 3 | 50% to target 2, 25% to target 3 |
| Large enemy bonus | No (unique targets only) | Hits large enemies 3 times |
| Use cases | Slayer, grouped mobs, ToB Nylocas, ToA Baboons | Raids, bossing, general PvM |
Use Cases
- Slayer tasks — any task with grouped mobs (Dust Devils, Nechryaels, Smoke Devils, Abyssal Demons in Catacombs)
- Theatre of Blood — Nylocas room wave clearing
- Tombs of Amascut — Baboon puzzle room
- General multi-combat training — Nightmare Zone, Sulphur Naguas
Use our DPS Calculator to compare Hallowfell's triple-target DPS against single-target weapons and Scythe of Vitur at different Defence levels.
Mad Angel Boss
The repeatable boss is called the Mad Angel. Once you complete Fallen From Grace, return to the Cathedral to challenge her — she is designed as a mid-level PvM encounter, a natural next step for players who have earned their Fire Cape. See our dedicated Mad Angel OSRS Boss Guide for the full kill method, gear and drop strategy.
Drops
- Hallowfell — the unique two-handed sword (75 Attack)
- Boss Teleport Scrolls — direct teleport back to the encounter
- Granite Dust — supplementary source only, not expected in large quantities
- Boss Jar
- New pet (first entry in her Collection Log)
Official Drop Rates
Jagex published the official Mad Angel rates on 12 August:
| Drop | Rate |
|---|---|
| Hallowfell | 1 in 127 |
| Ardeaglais Teleports (x2) | 1 in 25 |
| Medium Clue Scroll | 1 in 25 (1 in 23 after Medium CA tier) |
| Jar of Light | 1 in 1,000 |
| Aggy (pet) | 1 in 2,000 |
The average kill is worth roughly 33,874 GP (GE prices, excluding clues), and the fight sits around 980K GP/hr at 60+ Attack/Strength, 70+ Prayer, and 76+ Magic for thralls. See our Mad Angel Combat Achievements guide for the full 9-task list and farming strategy.
Post-Launch Tweaks
- A shadow has been added beneath the Mad Angel to make her easier to click accurately
- Her Clue drop changed from Hard to Medium (12 August), and clue drops now persist on the ground for 3 hours
- Quest kills now count toward her killcount (granted retroactively)
- Combat Achievements went live 26 August — 9 tasks worth 25 points, from Medium killcounts to the Elite "no weapon" restriction
Mortimer — New Slayer Master
Mortimer is a high-level Slayer Master built around player choice. He is found in the caverns on Wyrmscraig during Fallen From Grace.
Unlock
- 100 Combat and 70 Slayer, or 99 Slayer regardless of Combat level
How His Tasks Work
Instead of a single assignment, Mortimer offers a choice between two tasks. Complete tasks to unlock a third choice at 50 tasks.
- His task list only includes creatures with Superior variants
- Skipping a task costs 100 Slayer Points (significantly more than other masters)
- Tasks cannot be reset via Turael
- Only two block slots, each costing 120 Slayer Points
- He does not award Slayer Points unless you have the Points Mortifier active
Mortifiers
Mortifiers are powerful bonuses that appear alongside your task choices. Unlock schedule (halved from the original proposal after feedback):
| Unlock | Tasks Completed |
|---|---|
| Points Mortifier | 0 |
| Quantity Mortifier | 0 |
| Clue Mortifier | 15 |
| Superior unique drop Mortifier | 25 |
| XP Mortifier | 40 |
| Triple task selection | 50 |
Partner Slayer
Your task choices are determined independently of your partner's unlocks — a partner cannot reduce or alter your task pool. If you pick a task your partner lacks the level/quest requirements for, you still receive it as normal.
Partner Slayer restrictions (19 August): you can no longer partner up after rolling Mortimer tasks without selecting one, an offline partner is dropped from your rolls, and Mortimer tasks can't be shared with players who haven't unlocked him. Previously, partners could pool up to 6 task choices and pass the best one between them — that's gone. The Slayer task interface also auto-resizes now, so blocked tasks stay visible without scrolling.
Sunstone Mining & Golem Crafting
Sunstone Golem Crafting unlocks after Fallen From Grace and needs 60 Crafting. It is designed as a viable alternative to Glassblowing, especially at higher levels — and it has no time gate, unlike seaweed-dependent Glassblowing.
The Loop
- Mine Sunstone (53 Mining) at the sunstone rocks on Wyrmscraig. The new Momentum mechanic rewards continuous mining with bonus ore and Mining XP; at 80 Mining you get guaranteed success from the momentum mechanic. Expert Mining Gloves work here. Prefer AFK? Click the Sunstone Monolith for slower, more relaxed gathering.
- Shape the Golem — work on the golem from all four sides (North, East, South, West) with a Chisel, earning small Crafting XP per side.
- Create a Sunstone Core — use a Chisel on Sunstone (60 Crafting). You can prepare these in advance.
- Insert the Core and clothe the Golem with Hunter Furs (1 fur per golem, 60 Crafting). All Hunter Furs have the same requirement.
Rewards
- Jeweller's Chisel — earned from Golem Crafting:
- 20% increased chance to successfully cut Opals, Jades, and Topaz
- 10% chance to cut two gems at once when cutting any gem
- Guaranteed success cutting Opals at 62, Jades at 71, Topaz at 76
- Also functions as a regular Chisel
- Buff (19 August): cuts bolt tips from gems in 2 ticks (was 5) with a 1 in 10 double-cut chance; high-alch value of 60,000 GP; can be stored in the POH Magic Wardrobe and now has a 'Drop' option instead of 'Destroy'
- Gem drops — the loot table offers Uncut Sapphires, Emeralds, Rubies, and Diamonds (stardust was cut during development)
Note: Moonlight Antelope Fur shop stock has been reduced to 0. You can still trade furs with other players, but you can no longer buy them in shops — if you want to use Golem Crafting, hunt your own furs or buy them on the GE.
Use our Crafting Calculator to compare Golem Crafting costs and XP against Glassblowing and other methods.
Goat Hunting — Hunter Activity
Goat Hunting is a high-intensity Hunter activity offering an active alternative to Red and Black Salamanders in the 60–80 range. Access requires 60 Hunter and completion of Sheep Herder.
How It Works
- Construct a pit using resources on the island
- Herd goats into the pit using a cattleprod (or Telekinetic Grab / Dark Lure for Magic utility)
- The number of goats needed to fill the pit scales with your Hunter level
- Each goat herded gives a small Hunter XP drop; the majority of XP comes when processing the full pit
- Re-arm the pit with a new spike set and repeat
Rewards
- XP between Red and Black Salamanders
- Goat Horns — Combat Potion ingredient supply (Hunter → Herblore chain)
- Goat Fur — used in Sunstone Golem Crafting (closed gameplay loop: hunt goats for fur, craft golems)
- Mr McGroot pet — confirmed as a drop from the activity (the ranked-choice poll was resolved)
Post-Launch Tweaks (Aug 5)
- Goat Hunting removed from the Wolf Hunter Rumour tier (still available on lower tiers)
- Hoof drop rate increased from 1/50 to 1/48
- At 99 Hunter you always reach the pity threshold after filling 4 pits
- Mr McGroot drop rate confirmed (12 August): 1 in 40,000 base, improving by ~25 per Hunter level to 1 in 37,525 at 99; players with 200M Hunter XP are 15x more likely. He's been removed from the Skilling Pets Collection Log section since he's tied to Goat Hunting rather than the skill as a whole
Use our Hunter Calculator to see where Goat Hunting fits in your 60–80 training path.
Fishing at Sea (Added Aug 5)
You can now train Fishing from your boat — the biggest post-launch Sailing addition. Fixed 5×5 fishing spots let you catch the same fish, at the same rates, with the same tools as on land (you can't fish while the boat is moving or locked into a facility).
- Sloops and Skiffs: rod fishing (Sardines, Herrings, Anglerfish with sand worms)
- Raft: harpoon, net, and lobster pot fishing (Shrimp, Mackerel, Bass, Sharks, Lobsters, Tuna, Swordfish, Karambwan, Monkfish)
New spots include south of Draynor/East of Port Sarim, Musa Point, south of Catherby, north of the DKP Fairy Ring (Karambwan), north-east of the Piscarilius foodhall (Anglerfish), and north of the Piscatoris Fishing Colony (Monkfish).
Also new: the 'Teleport to Boat' spell is a Sailing Skillcape and Max Cape perk (requires the Greater Teleport Focus facility), and the Portal Nexus supports 'Last Boat' teleports.
See our full Boat Fishing Guide for every spot, and plan trips with the Fishing Calculator.
What Changed From the Original Proposal
If you read the pre-launch rewards blog, here's what shipped differently:
- Ornate Glassblowing Pipe — did not ship. It was replaced by the Jeweller's Chisel from Golem Crafting.
- Basalt Amulet — did not ship as proposed. Teleports now come from a Slayer Ring, Necklace of Passage, and Boss Teleport Scrolls.
- Stardust from Golem Crafting — cut. The loot table now drops uncut gems instead.
- Mr McGroot — confirmed as an independent pet drop from Goat Hunting.
- Mortifier unlocks were halved from the original schedule after community feedback.
- Moonlight Antelope Fur shop stock reduced to 0 (trade-only now).
