  • The Mad Angel Combat Achievements are live
  • Every task from Medium to Elite explained — Dancing Queen, Smite Fight, Perfect Mad Angel, This Is Madness and more — plus her published drop rates and how to farm the Hallowfell.

The Mad Angel Combat Achievements went live on 26 August 2026, giving Wyrmscraig's repeatable boss a full set of 9 tasks worth 25 points — from friendly Medium killcounts to an Elite task that forbids equipping a weapon entirely.

If you've been farming Hallowfell anyway, most of these will complete themselves. The mechanical ones take a little understanding of the enrage phase, so here's every task, how the mechanics work, and the strategy for each.

The 9 Tasks at a Glance

Task Type Tier (Points) Requirement
Mad Angel Adept Kill Count Medium (2) Kill the Mad Angel 25 times
Dancing Queen Mechanical Medium (2) Kill her after 6 consecutive enhanced attacks from dodging sweeps
Smite Fight Mechanical Medium (2) Kill her after 3 consecutive enhanced attacks from perfect smite prayers
Juggling Act Mechanical Medium (2) Attack between each bounce of the blast attack during enrage
Mad Angel Veteran Kill Count Hard (3) Kill the Mad Angel 50 times
Mad Angel Speed-Runner Speed Hard (3) 5 kills within 10 minutes of entering the arena
Perfect Mad Angel Perfection Hard (3) Kill her without taking any avoidable damage
This Is Madness Stamina Elite (4) 15 kills without leaving the arena
The Pen Is Mightier Restriction Elite (4) Kill her without equipping any weapon

Total: 25 points. For context, that's a healthy chunk of points for a Medium-difficulty boss — the full task list sits in the Medium-to-Elite range, so it's a genuine stepping stone toward the Combat Achievement diary tiers.

Mechanics You Need for the CAs

The Mad Angel is a golem boss that attacks with melee and magic (max hit 31, reduced to 5 under Protect from Melee). After every three standard attacks she uses a special, and below 350 HP (~45%) she enters enrage — where all three specials fire consecutively and faster.

Two of her specials create "enhanced attacks" if handled correctly, and these are the currency for the mechanical tasks:

  • Sweep attack: she draws her sword back, then cleaves both sides. Run behind her or to the side opposite the sword. Dodging to the side (not behind) makes your next attack 100% accurate with a minimum hit of 50% of your max hit — an enhanced attack.
  • Smite attack: she charges lightning you must block with Protect from Magic. Blocking it on the exact tick (activate the prayer roughly 4 ticks after the charge starts) fully negates it and guarantees a max hit on your next attack — also an enhanced attack.
  • Blast attack: a ball of light lands on a marked tile. Stand on the tile to bounce it back at her for 18-22 damage; if it explodes, the whole arena takes 30+ damage.

Task-By-Task Strategy

Dancing Queen (Medium)

Dodge 6 sweep attacks in a row during enrage, attacking between each one, then finish the kill. The trick: enrage fires all three specials consecutively, so you won't get 6 sweeps back-to-back — you need to survive multiple enrage rotations, dodging every sweep to the side (not behind her) to keep the enhanced-attack chain alive. Miss one and the chain resets.

Smite Fight (Medium)

The mirror of Dancing Queen: perfect-tick smite blocks, 3 in a row. The timing is the 4-tick window — activate Protect from Magic when the blue crackling appears. If you already know how to tick-perfect the smite, this is the easier of the two mechanical Mediums. If you don't, it's a great place to learn, because a failure just costs some damage rather than the task.

Juggling Act (Medium)

During enrage, when the blast attack lands, attack the boss between each bounce. Stand on the destination tile, attack her as the ball comes back, and again on the next bounce. Because enrage chains all three specials, you'll get multiple blasts per fight — you need the kill to end with you having attacked between bounces.

Mad Angel Adept / Veteran (Medium / Hard)

Pure grind: 25 kills for Adept, 50 for Veteran. At ~1.5-2 minutes per kill with respawn, that's roughly 1-2 hours for Adept and 2-4 for Veteran. Boss teleport scrolls (a 1/25 drop, in pairs) keep the kill volume high.

Mad Angel Speed-Runner (Hard)

5 kills in 10 minutes — that's 2 minutes per kill including the 15.6-second respawn. Comfortable with decent gear; run it back-to-back and don't waste time banking. Use our DPS Calculator to check your kill speed before you start.

Perfect Mad Angel (Hard)

Kill her with zero avoidable damage: side-dodge every sweep, tick-perfect every smite, bounce every blast, never eat an explosion. The blast bounce deals no damage to you, so it's more forgiving than it sounds — the smite is the run-killer. If you flick it perfectly, you also get max-hit nukes that shorten the fight and reduce exposure.

This Is Madness (Elite)

15 kills without leaving the arena. A stamina task: bring enough supplies for 25-35 minutes of fighting. The respawn timer works in your favour — grab the killcount and reset on the spot. Ardeaglais teleports and a full inventory of brews/restores are the loadout.

The Pen Is Mightier (Elite)

Kill her without equipping any weapon. You can still cast spells manually, and thralls plus Vengeance do real work here. It's slow — expect the fight to drag — but it's mechanical-free: just don't equip a weapon, and the kill eventually lands. Bring extra supplies.

Her Published Drop Rates

Jagex published the official Mad Angel rates on 12 August:

Drop Rate
Hallowfell 1 in 127
Ardeaglais Teleports (x2) 1 in 25
Medium Clue Scroll 1 in 25 (1 in 23 after Medium CA tier)
Jar of Light 1 in 1,000
Aggy (pet) 1 in 2,000

The average kill is worth roughly 33,874 GP (GE prices, excluding clues), and the wiki estimates the boss at around 980K GP/hr with 60+ Attack/Strength, 70+ Prayer, and 76+ Magic for thralls. The Hallowfell itself — the strongest multi-target melee weapon in the game — is worth over 2M GP, so the drop rate plus value makes her one of the better mid-game boss farms right now. Compare the grind with our Drop Rate Calculator and Pet Odds Calculator.

Small print: kills from the Fallen From Grace quest version now count toward her killcount tracker (granted retroactively), and she drops Medium clues rather than the original Hard ones — worth knowing for your clue log.

Where She Fits

The Mad Angel is the repeatable boss on Wyrmscraig, the player-designed island that launched 29 July with the Fallen From Grace quest. Full quest requirements, the Hallowfell mechanics, and everything else about the island live in our Wyrmscraig guide, and if you're pairing her with Slayer, our Mortimer guide covers Wyrmscraig's Slayer Master. She's also a genuinely good entry point if you're working through our beginner boss progression.
