Slayer Optimization Notes
Use this page to balance three goals at once: time to your preferred task, point sustainability, and expected profit.
If your expected skip-point burn is higher than your adjusted points per hour can sustain, widen your target task range or reduce skips.
Recheck this setup when your gear, stats, and task durations improve—small changes in completion speed greatly affect long-term Slayer efficiency.
Frequently Asked Questions
01How does slayer task weighting work?
Each master has a weighted task pool. Higher-weight tasks are assigned more often. Blocking low-value tasks reduces total pool weight and increases the chance of getting profitable or high-XP tasks.
02Which Slayer master gives the best points?
Konar and Duradel are common choices for strong points and useful task pools. The best master depends on your level, combat stats, and whether you value XP, profit, or specific boss tasks.
03How many tasks can I block in OSRS?
You can unlock multiple block slots through Slayer rewards. This calculator lets you estimate how much blocked task weight improves your desired-task chance.
04How many points should I save before skipping tasks?
Most players keep a point buffer for bad streaks. This page estimates expected skip-point burn for your desired task odds so you can avoid running out mid-grind.
05Is Duradel or Konar better for profit?
Duradel usually offers stronger consistency and broad task quality, while Konar can spike profit with location-based key drops. The better master depends on your account goals and tolerance for variance.
06How does Mortimer the new Slayer Master work?
Mortimer (Wyrmscraig, unlocked at 100 Combat and 70 Slayer, or 99 Slayer) offers a choice between two tasks instead of one, with a third choice after 50 tasks. His whole task list has Superior variants, but skips cost 100 Slayer Points, he only has two block slots (120 points each), and tasks can't be reset through Turael. He awards no Slayer Points unless you unlock the Points Mortifier. See the full Mortimer guide for his Mortifier unlocks.
07What changed for Mortimer and Slayer drops in Aug-Sep 2026?
19 August 2026 fixed Partner Slayer abuse: you can no longer partner while holding unpicked Mortimer rolls, offline partners are dropped at roll time, and Mortimer tasks cannot be shared with players who have not unlocked him. 2 September 2026 added new Slayer jewellery drops: elemental jewels at 1/64 (Air diamond from Killerwatts, Water sapphire from Sea Snake Hatchlings, Earth emerald from Molanisks, Fire ruby from Infernal Mages) for Elemental amulets, plus Necklace of Fangs at 1/128 from Turoths. See our Elemental Amulets guide for crafting and stats.
