OSRS Family Crest walkthrough, requirements and rewards

Family Crest unlocks the Steel gauntlets, which can be imbued with special effects by each of the three brothers. It needs 40 Mining, 40 Smithing, 59 Magic and 40 Crafting.

- Fast travel to Varrock, Catherby, Al Kharid, the Dwarven Mine, Witchaven and Edgeville
Walkthrough

- Catherby. Talk to Caleb in the building north-east of the Catherby bank and give him all five fish. Ask about the other crest parts to progress.
- Al Kharid. Speak to the Gem Trader, then talk to Avan, the 'Man' with the yellow cape, at the scorpion mining pit north of the trader.
- Witchaven Dungeon. Enter Witchaven Dungeon and operate the levers in the correct order to unlock the eastern gate, then mine 2 perfect gold ores in the hellhound room.
- Perfect jewellery. Smelt the ores into bars at a furnace, then make one perfect ruby necklace and one perfect ruby ring. Give them to Avan for the second crest piece.
- Defeat Chronozon. Bring runes for Wind, Water, Earth and Fire Blast. In Edgeville Dungeon use each blast spell on Chronozon, then kill him and take the final crest piece.
- Finish the quest. Assemble the Family crest and return it to Dimintheis in Varrock.

01What are the requirements for Family Crest?
40 Mining, 40 Smithing, 59 Magic and 40 Crafting, all boostable. You must also be able to defeat a level 170 demon.
02How do I beat Chronozon?
You must successfully hit him with Wind, Water, Earth and Fire Blast before he can die. Safespot him between the southern rocks and bring antipoison for the poison spiders.
03What do the Steel gauntlets do?
The three brothers can imbue them with different special effects. You can only have one effect at a time, and changing it costs 25,000 coins.
04Which gauntlets should I choose in Family Crest?
Cooking gauntlets reduce burning of several fish, Goldsmith gauntlets boost gold smelting experience to 250% of normal, and Chaos gauntlets add 3 damage to bolt spells. You can only have one, and changing costs 25,000 coins.
05How do I get the fish for Family Crest?
You need shrimps, salmon, tuna, bass and swordfish. Most raw fish are sold at Frankie's Fishing Emporium, salmon can be bought cooked in West Ardougne, swordfish from Brimhaven or Tribal Totem, and bass from Ankou or Gourmet implings.
06What does Family Crest unlock?
It is required for Defender of Varrock, Legends' Quest, Recipe for Disaster (Freeing Sir Amik Varze) and the Elite Kandarin Diary, and the gauntlets are widely used for Cooking and Smithing training.
07How long does Family Crest take?
It is an Experienced, Medium-length quest. The main blockers are the Witchaven lever puzzle, making perfect ruby jewellery and the Chronozon fight.
