Gertrude's Cat is a very short Novice quest that rewards your own kitten and a chocolate cake. It has no skill or quest requirements, so it is a common early quest.

- Axe and 100 coins to cut a dying tree at the Lumber Yard for Varrock Diary tasks

- Make a seasoned sardine. Pick doogle leaves from behind Gertrude's house and use them on a raw sardine.
- Talk to the boys. Go to the Varrock Square newsstand and talk to Shilop or Wilough with 100 coins to learn where Fluffs is.
- Search the Lumber Yard. Climb over the broken fence north-east of Varrock, go up the ladder in the middle of the Lumber Yard, and use the milk and seasoned sardine on Gertrude's cat.
- Find the kitten. Search the crates with the yellow 'Search crate' option and 'Mew!' above them until you find Fluffs' kitten. Do not repeat the same crate.
- Finish the quest. Use Fluffs' kitten on Gertrude's cat, then return to Gertrude.
