The Fractured Archive — Old School's fourth raid — put its rewards to a community poll on 3 August 2026. The poll blog (30 July) changed several rewards from the original 16 June proposal: the Gatekeeper's Cane became Zorya's Tome, the Breaker got a full mechanic rework, and a new Zeal prayer upgrade joined the lineup.
Here is every reward as it stands now, how it compares to existing gear, and where it fits in your progression. We'll update this guide as poll results and final stats land.
The Breaker — The Crush Megarare
The Breaker is the raid's megarare, occupying the Crush niche that the Scythe of Vitur fills for Slash — and it got a significant rework for the poll.
Core Mechanics (Poll Version)
- Rolls damage multiple times — 2 rolls by default, 3 if the target's second-weakest defence is Crush, and 4 rolls if the target is weakest to Crush, taking the best result
- 1-tile base range, but smashes through targets in a 3-tile line — hitting up to three targets at once, or gaining +20%/+40% damage against larger targets
- Still beats the Scythe by a large margin vs Crush-weak enemies; Scythe retains a small edge on neutral defences — Jagex's intent is that the Breaker is much stronger in its niche than Scythe is in its
- Charging — like the Scythe, it needs charging with a rune of some kind (not yet decided) plus Ascension Shards from the raid or its lobby
- Nex is being tuned for it — Jagex confirmed they'll lower Nex's Crush defence so the Breaker becomes best-in-slot there
Visual Identity Poll
The weapon's look is being polled as a ranked choice between three concepts:
- TzHaar-Ket Breaker — of TzHaar origin, but was it used by them or against them?
- Titanic Breaker — a mysterious weapon shrouded in shadows, creator long lost
- The Obligator — the Guthixian Archivists' defence weapon
Whichever wins is the design that ships; the others may return as ornament kits.
Update (poll result): the weapon passed the lock-in poll with 88.4% approval and The Obligator won the visual identity vote — full stats, attack styles, and mechanics in our dedicated The Obligator OSRS Guide.

Zorya's Tome — The Magic Spec Weapon
The Gatekeeper's Cane from the original proposal has been completely reworked into Zorya's Tome, a two-handed, Guthixian-themed magical book — giving Magic its first real DPS special attack.
Mechanics
- Acts as a powered staff: 3-tick attack rate, base max hit of 18 (below the Eye of Ayak for sustained DPS — you won't camp it)
- Magic accuracy 45, Magic damage +15% (up from the cane's 30 accuracy and 0% damage to compensate for being two-handed)
- Special Attack: fires with 150% increased accuracy and 60% increased damage; if it hits, you're imbued with arcane energy that buffs your next three attacks with the same 150% accuracy / 60% damage — and they fire every 2 ticks
Where It Fits
The DPS doesn't come from one hard hit — it comes from the empowered burst afterwards, and because the buff is on you, you can spread the damage across targets. Jagex positioned it for enemies where Dragon Claws' accuracy falls short, or where Zaryte Crossbow bolt procs underperform. It also gives magic a second spec option alongside the volatile Nightmare Staff.
Rondache — A Shield That Fights Back
The Rondache is an Icyene artefact wielded in Saradomin's name — a damage-mitigating shield with a retaliatory special attack.
Mechanics
- +2 Flat Armour and +2 Magic Resist — all incoming damage (except typeless) is reduced by 2, perfect for chip damage
- Charge system — mitigated damage stores as charges, up to 20
- Shield Bash (special attack) — fires instantly with no delay (Granite Maul style), and works alongside your mainhand weapon's special attack. Damage = charges + charges% (20 charges = 24). Rolls Crush accuracy based on charges (+6 per stack) against the opponent's Crush defence
- Offensive stats — Strength equivalent to the Avernic Defender, but no accuracy bonuses — the Avernic should still win where you don't need the chip mitigation
- Jagex are watching its impact on Theatre of Blood profitability, with a possible future Rondache + Avernic combination
Where It Excels
- Inferno, CoX (Olm), Araxxor — anywhere small, unavoidable damage adds up
- Combat Achievements — tight encounters where every HP matters
- Finishing kills — a fully charged Shield Bash is a 24-damage instant burst alongside your mainhand spec
Zeal — The Piety Upgrade
Zeal strips things back: a Piety Prayer override that gives +25% Attack, +28% Strength, and +25% Defence while active — effectively bonus accuracy and an additional 6 Strength levels at 99 Strength with Super combat potions.
- Requirements: Piety unlocked, 84 Prayer, 75 Attack, and 75 Strength (the attack/strength requirements were added during review to avoid PvP build imbalance)
- Same drain rate as Piety — no downside to unlock
- Jagex wants a grandiose unlock moment to match the power increase — think a key to a room deep in the Archive
Zeal is the simplest reward on the ballot, and for many accounts the most impactful — it's a permanent DPS increase that works everywhere.
Ascension Crossbows — Dual-Wield Ranged
Dual-wield crossbows that fire at roughly double the speed of standard crossbows — a Heavy-ranged upgrade to the Toxic Blowpipe, especially versus tankier targets or enemies weak to Heavy Ranged.
Bolt System
They can only fire Ascension Bolts, crafted from Ascension Shards (raid drop, or mined in the raid lobby while waiting). Three bolt types at launch:
| Bolt Type | Effect |
|---|---|
| Regular | Base damage |
| Diamond-tipped | Armour-piercing — effective vs high Defence |
| Onyx-tipped | Life leech — heals on hit |
A future-proofed starting set — Jagex wants to observe balance before expanding (a bolt-effect rework is on the horizon). To get the Dizana's Quiver bonuses, the bolts must be equipped.
Where They Fit
| Comparison | Ascension Crossbows |
|---|---|
| vs Toxic Blowpipe | Better accuracy, stronger vs tanky targets — a raid-tier replacement |
| vs Twisted Bow | T Bow stays king vs high-Magic targets; Ascension fills the mid-tier gap |
| vs Zaryte Crossbow | Faster attack speed, but no Ruby/Dragonstone proc effects at launch |

Elemental Fragments — Untradeable Buffs
Four fragments, one per element (Air, Water, Earth, Fire). Consuming one of each permanently increases the max hit of all spells of that element by +2.
These are expected to be common with pity RNG so you can check them off in a reasonable timeframe — similar to Keris Partisan Jewels in Tombs of Amascut. They're a direct buff to standard spellbook magic, particularly relevant with Elemental Weaknesses gaining more use.

What Happened to the Hybrid Armour Set?
The Melee/Magic hybrid armour from the June proposal is not part of this poll. It wasn't mentioned in the 30 July blog, so treat it as still in development or shelved until a later blog — we'll update this guide if it reappears.
What This Means for Progression
Early Raid Progression
Elemental Fragments and Zeal are the high-priority early unlocks — Zeal especially is a permanent, style-agnostic power increase.
Mid-Game Upgrade Path
Rondache offers a defensive option that keeps Avernic-equivalent Strength, and Ascension Crossbows give rangers a step between Blowpipe and T Bow without bolt proc RNG.
Endgame Chases
- The Breaker is the crush megarare — the Scythe's equal in prestige, and now BiS at Nex by design
- Zorya's Tome finally gives Magic a DPS spec — watch for how it changes solo mage content
Investment Implications
- The Breaker's charging rune is undecided — when Jagex picks it, that rune will spike (Scythe's Vials of Blood pattern)
- Ascension Shards will be the raid's recurring consumable
- Watch the poll results: rewards that fail can return in reworked form (the Heka precedent in Tombs of Amascut)
Caveats
This is the poll-stage version of the rewards. Stats will be finalised after the poll closes (opened 3 August 2026). Anything can still change based on player feedback — the Breaker's mechanics and Zorya's Tome both already changed once between the first proposal and the poll blog.
