OSRS Courier Task Loot Sacks Guide: All 5 Tiers & Every Port Drop
Quick Decision Snapshot
Courier Tasks now drop Loot Sacks in OSRS. GP per tier, the full supply table, and every port's thematic drop — from grapes in Aldarin to crystal shards in Prifddinas — plus how to farm them efficiently.

Sailing just got a lot more profitable. The 26 August 2026 update added Loot Sacks to Courier Tasks — meaning every cargo run now pays out a sack of GP or boat supplies, on top of the task reward itself.
There are five sack tiers, a 4-in-5 chance of straight GP, and a 1-in-5 chance of a supply bundle themed to the port you deliver to. Here's the complete breakdown.
How It Works
Successfully complete a Courier Task and you receive a Loot Sack — a stackable reward sack that works like Hunter Rumour loot sacks. The tier of the sack scales with the level of the task and the distance travelled:
| Tier | GP Range (4 in 5 chance) |
|---|---|
| Tiny | 800 – 1,200 GP |
| Small | 1,200 – 2,400 GP |
| Medium | 2,400 – 3,600 GP |
| Large | 4,000 – 6,000 GP |
| Huge | 6,400 – 9,600 GP |
- 4 in 5 chance: the sack contains GP based on its tier
- 1 in 5 chance: the sack contains a bundle of supplies — everything is received at once when you open it
One nice detail from the design: Jagex originally planned to move the Shark Paint cosmetic into Loot Sacks, but on reflection kept it as a separate drop on every Courier Task so it never replaces loot you'd otherwise earn.
The Supply Table
When a sack rolls supplies, the rewards scale with the tier. Possible supply drops:
- Sheets (Dragon)
- Nails (Bronze to Dragon)
- Cannonballs (Iron to Dragon)
- Planks (Normal to Ironwood)
- Bars (Bronze to Rune)
- Ores (Copper to Runite)
Plus — the community-requested touch — each port has a thematic drop related to its identity:
| Port | Thematic Drop |
|---|---|
| Aldarin | Grapes |
| Ardougne | Cake / Chocolate cake |
| Brimhaven | Pineapples |
| Cairn Isle | Uncut gems (opals to diamonds, by tier) |
| Catherby | Raw cod, tuna, lobster, bass, sharks (by tier) |
| Civitas illa Fortis | Kebab |
| Corsair Cove | Bronze to Rune scimitars (by tier) |
| Deepfin Point | Lead and Nickel ores |
| Entrana | Bones (higher-tier sacks drop better bones) |
| Etceteria | Teak and Mahogany logs |
| Hosidius | Compost, Supercompost, or Ultracompost (by tier) |
| Jatizso | Copper to Rune ores (by tier) |
| Land's End | Empty bird's nests |
| Lunar Isle | Astral runes |
| Musa Point | Bananas |
| Neitiznot | Yak hides |
| Piscatoris | Raw monkfish |
| Port Khazard | Raw manta ray / raw sea turtle |
| Port Piscarilius | Raw anglerfish |
| Port Roberts | Cannonballs (Bronze to Dragon, by tier) |
| Port Sarim | Caskets |
| Port Tyras | Zulrah's scales |
| Prifddinas | Crystal shards |
| Red Rock | Corals (Elkhorn to Umbral, by tier) |

| Ruins of Unkah | Spirit flakes |
| Summer Shore | Coral fragments (Elkhorn to Umbral, by tier) |

| The Pandemonium | Cocktails |
| Void Knights' Outpost | Bronze to Rune helms, platebodies, or platelegs (by tier) |
How to Farm Them
Courier Tasks are the Sailing delivery grind: pick up cargo at one port, deliver it to another. The new Loot Sacks make them the best per-hour GP of the sailing activities if you target long-distance, high-level tasks — Huge sacks pay up to 9,600 GP plus a chance at Dragon-tier supplies like Dragon cannonballs, which are the headline valuable (Jagex explicitly called out that "Dragon Cannons" upgrades are now much more accessible).
A few practical notes:
- Stack the sacks — they're stackable like Hunter Rumour sacks, so bank them and open in bulk
- The GP vs supplies choice isn't a choice — you can't influence the 4/5 roll; the expected value of supplies comfortably beats GP at the top tiers, so Huge sacks are worth opening on the spot
- Port Robertson (Dragon cannonballs) and Red Rock (Umbral corals) are the two most valuable thematic drops to route around
- Ironmen: supplies like planks, bars, and ores are exactly the grind Sailing was missing — this is a genuinely good ironman content update
If you're new to the skill, our Sailing guide covers boats, facilities, and the full training picture — and if you want to mix Fishing into your trips, Boat Fishing remains one of the best ways to layer skills while sailing. There was also a small QoL fix in the same update: aligning your boat with offshore fishing spots is now smoother, with no more south-western bias, so approach from any direction.
The Bigger Picture
Loot Sacks are part of the ongoing Sailing buffs rolling through August, which also brought fishing from your boat (5 August), the Max Cape Teleport-to-Boat perk, and the Portal Nexus 'Last Boat' destination. If you've been waiting for a reason to take Sailing seriously as a moneymaker, this is it — and the Summer Sweep-Up round-up has every other update that landed alongside it.
