Vorkath OSRS Boss Guide

Solo BossesMediumSolo Boss

Updated September 2026

Vorkath is an undead blue dragon on Ungael, unlocked after Dragon Slayer II, and one of the most consistent solo money makers in the game at roughly 156,000 GP per kill. It drops Vorkath's head, guaranteed on the 50th kill, plus the Dragonbone necklace and Skeletal visage. Being undead, it takes increased damage from the Salve amulet and its variants. This guide gives you a practical starting route, loadout direction, and decision-first checklist so you can get into consistent kills faster.

Boss Overview

Vorkath is a solo boss in thesolo bosses bracket. This encounter rewards practical loadout choices and repeatable mechanics more than flashy max-hit attempts.

Vorkath uses all three combat styles plus three tiers of dragonfire, and after every six attacks it alternates between two specials. In the zombie-spawn special it freezes you and becomes immune until the spawn dies, so switch to a fast weapon and kill it before it reaches you. In the acid special it sprays pools and fires rapid fireballs while taking 50% reduced damage.

For a first kill, keep dragonfire protection consistent with an antifire potion plus a dragonfire shield or ward, and never stand in the fireball's shadow because a direct hit ignores that protection entirely. The acid phase is handled with the Woox walk - attack, then step two tiles back and forth - while its flat 50% damage reduction means the phase is about survival, not speed.

Your current setup should match your trip objective. If you are learning mechanics, favor sustain and control. If you are already consistent, add damage gradually.

Build consistency first, then optimize kill speed in controlled steps.

Vorkath Melee Guide 2026

Mechanic Checklist

Focus on clean rotations, predictable movement, and stable supplies.

  • Kill the Zombified Spawn immediately - Vorkath is immune to all damage while it is alive and a full-health spawn explodes for 60.
  • Use a Salve amulet (ei): Vorkath is undead, but the amulet does not stack with a Slayer helmet.
  • Never stand on the fireball's landing shadow - a direct hit ignores every form of dragonfire protection and kills instantly.

Common Mistakes

  • Over-prioritizing damage upgrades before mastering mechanics.
  • Bringing too many switches and losing consistency under pressure.
  • Staying too long on weak supplies and losing overall hourly value.

Progression Targets

  1. Stage 1: Build a reliable Vorkath starter setup in Gear Picker and secure consistent clears.
  2. Stage 2: Optimize trip length through cleaner mechanics and inventory control.
  3. Stage 3: Add a stronger DPS variant and compare real run outcomes.
  4. Stage 4: Finalize a shareable Vorkath loadout set for your ongoing route.

Notable Drops

  • Vorkath's head
  • Dragonbone necklace
  • Skeletal visage
