Skotizo OSRS Boss Guide
Solo Bosses - Easy difficulty
Updated September 2026
Skotizo is a level 321 demon beneath the Catacombs of Kourend, entered by sacrificing a Dark totem to the central altar. He is the game's best guaranteed source of Hard clue scrolls with a strong chance at Elite clues, and always drops at least one Ancient shard. He counts as a black or greater demon for Slayer tasks and is vulnerable to demonbane weapons. This guide gives you a practical starting route, loadout direction, and decision-first checklist so you can get into consistent kills faster.

Boss Overview
Skotizo is a solo boss in thesolo bosses bracket. This encounter rewards practical loadout choices and repeatable mechanics more than flashy max-hit attempts.
Skotizo randomly activates one of four Awakened Altars during the fight, and each live altar cuts your damage against him: 15% per altar with Arclight or Emberlight and up to 100% with other weapons. Arclight and Emberlight disable an altar in a single hit, so the fight becomes a loop of tagging altars and returning to the boss before his damage reduction stacks too high.
For a first kill, bring Arclight if you have it, keep Protect from Magic while running between altars, and ignore the reanimated demons and dark ankou he summons because they give no benefit and are harmless under Protect from Melee. Once two-thirds of his health is gone he adds more spawns, so bring stamina potions and keep the altar runs short.
Your current setup should match your trip objective. If you are learning mechanics, favor sustain and control. If you are already consistent, add damage gradually.
Build consistency first, then optimize kill speed in controlled steps.
How The Fight Works
Entry Setup
Open each run with a consistent setup routine to reduce avoidable errors.
Core Mechanic Loop
Use the same clean mechanic cycle each kill for Skotizo before adding optimizations.
Trip Sustain
Preserve supplies with low-risk choices so your average trip value stays stable.
Bank and Repeat
Reset quickly, review one improvement point, and keep run volume high.
Kill Method
1. Build a Dark totem
Dark totem base, middle, and top drop from monsters in the Catacombs of Kourend. Combine them into a full totem — one totem grants one kill at the altar.
2. Start the fight
Use the Dark totem on the Dark Altar inside the Catacombs to enter Skotizo's arena. Protect from Melee and keep moving around the arena to avoid the boss's ground attacks.
3. Clear the totems
Skotizo periodically summons totem pillars that heal and protect it. Destroy them quickly to keep the kill short. Note the July 2026 change: each totem now has a 1-minute respawn cooldown and the arena is smaller, so the fight is faster-paced.
4. Loot and repeat
Dark claws (Dark bow), Ancient shards, clue scrolls, the Skotizo pet, and Jar of darkness. Bank and cycle totem pieces efficiently between kills.
Prep Checklist
- Lock one stable loadout before you chase max DPS variants.
- Pre-plan your inventory around your expected trip length.
- Set one clear objective for each trip (KC, task, uniques, or practice).
Recommended Loadout
Arclight spec does +70% damage to Skotizo. Stab weapons work best on the altars.

Mechanic Checklist
Focus on clean rotations, predictable movement, and stable supplies.
- Tag each Awakened Altar with Arclight or Emberlight - they disable it in one hit, while other demonbane weapons do not.
- Switch to Protect from Magic while running to an altar: Skotizo stays put and only threatens you with magic at range.
- Do not waste time on his reanimated demons or dark ankou - they drop nothing and respawn, so focus on Skotizo and the altars.
Common Mistakes
- Over-prioritizing damage upgrades before mastering mechanics.
- Bringing too many switches and losing consistency under pressure.
- Staying too long on weak supplies and losing overall hourly value.
Progression Targets
- Stage 1: Build a reliable Skotizo starter setup in Gear Picker and secure consistent clears.
- Stage 2: Optimize trip length through cleaner mechanics and inventory control.
- Stage 3: Add a stronger DPS variant and compare real run outcomes.
- Stage 4: Finalize a shareable Skotizo loadout set for your ongoing route.
Notable Drops
- Ancient shard
- Dark claw
- Hard clue scroll
Boss FAQ
01How do I get to Skotizo?
Skotizo is fought by using a Dark Totem on the altar inside the Catacombs of Kourend. Dark totem pieces (dark totem base, middle, and top) drop from the monsters in the Catacombs and combine into a full totem — one totem grants one kill.
02How did the 2026 Summer Sweep-Up change Skotizo?
The July 2026 update added a 1-minute respawn cooldown after each totem is destroyed, so you can no longer quickly clear all of Skotizo's totems one after another. The arena was also reduced in size, making movement between totems faster but the encounter slightly tighter.
03What are Skotizo's notable drops?
Skotizo drops Dark Claws (used to make the Dark Bow), Ancient Shards, and is one of the best sources of clue scrolls in the game. It also drops the Skotizo pet and the Jar of Darkness.
04What setup style should I start with for Skotizo?
Start with a Melee or Ranged setup focused on consistency, then tune damage once your kill flow is stable. Build and test your own setup in the Gear Picker before long trips.
05Is Skotizo good for profit?
Skotizo can be strong for profit depending on your kill consistency, trip length, and unique drop luck. Prioritize repeatable clears over risky max-DPS setups.
06How should I use Gear Picker for Skotizo?
Create one baseline loadout, one safer sustain loadout, and one upgraded version. Share each link so you can compare and discuss setups quickly.
07Should I use Best in Slot Finder or Gear Picker for Skotizo?
Use Best in Slot Finder for recommendation-first starting points, then use Gear Picker to build and refine the exact setup you will actually run.
