Venenatis OSRS Boss Guide
Wilderness Bosses - Hard difficulty
Updated September 2026
Venenatis is a giant spider in the Silk Chasm at level 35 Wilderness, one of the reworked Wilderness bosses with a chance at the Voidwaker gem and Treasonous ring. She summons spiderlings and webs that reduce the effectiveness of your protection prayers. The average solo kill is worth around 245,000 GP, making her the most profitable of the three. This guide gives you a practical starting route, loadout direction, and decision-first checklist so you can get into consistent kills faster.

Boss Overview
Venenatis is a wilderness boss in thewilderness bosses bracket. Wilderness bossing is a risk-management activity as much as a PvM activity.
Venenatis attacks with melee up close and with magic or ranged at distance, and her protection-draining spiderlings are the key mechanic. Each living spiderling reduces your prayer's effectiveness and raises her max hit, so they are killed immediately. Every four attacks she shuffles position, and every two movements she alternates between ranged and magic.
For a first kill, kill the spiderlings first because they have only 5 hitpoints and you always deal your max hit to them regardless of gear. Match your protection prayer to whether she is on ranged or magic after each shuffle, and never stand on the sticky web that drains prayer and run energy. A dwarf multicannon cannot be placed in the Silk Chasm.
Your current setup should match your trip objective. If you are learning mechanics, favor sustain and control. If you are already consistent, add damage gradually.
Run low-tilt trips with predictable exits and sustainable risk.
How The Fight Works
Route and Escape Planning
Set your entry route, escape path, and risk cap before each trip.
Kill Setup
Control positioning and mechanics while monitoring player activity nearby.
Loot and Decision Point
Decide quickly whether to bank or continue based on supplies and risk.
Exit Execution
Leave on your planned route instead of reacting late to danger.
Prep Checklist
- Lock one stable loadout before you chase max DPS variants.
- Pre-plan your inventory around your expected trip length.
- Set one clear objective for each trip (KC, task, uniques, or practice).
- Use risk-adjusted gear and a fixed escape route every trip.
Recommended Loadout
Wilderness spider. Bring moderate risk and escape method. Venenatis has high magic defence.

Mechanic Checklist
Route planning, escape decisions, and controlled risk matter as much as kill speed.
- Kill the spiderlings first: while any are alive they lower your protection prayer's effectiveness and raise Venenatis' max hit.
- Swap your protection prayer after every second shuffle - she alternates between a ranged and a magic phase.
- Step off the sticky web immediately; it drains 3 prayer and 10 run energy every few ticks.
Common Mistakes
- Over-prioritizing damage upgrades before mastering mechanics.
- Bringing too many switches and losing consistency under pressure.
- Staying too long on weak supplies and losing overall hourly value.
- Trying to speedrun before your baseline clear is stable.
- Ignoring PK risk and travelling with more risk than needed.
Progression Targets
- Stage 1: Build a reliable Venenatis starter setup in Gear Picker and secure consistent clears.
- Stage 2: Optimize trip length through cleaner mechanics and inventory control.
- Stage 3: Add a stronger DPS variant and compare real run outcomes.
- Stage 4: Finalize a shareable Venenatis loadout set for your ongoing route.
Notable Drops
- Treasonous ring
- Dragon pickaxe
- Spiderling pet
Boss FAQ
01Where is Venenatis?
Venenatis is in level 31 Wilderness, in the spider den north of the Graveyard of Shadows. With the Venenatis rework she now has two entry routes and a safer southern approach — bring an escape route plan because the area is a common PK hotspot.
02What are Venenatis' notable drops?
Venenatis drops the Treasonous Ring, Dragon Pickaxe, and the Venenatis Spiderling pet. Like other wilderness bosses she also drops the Odium Shard and Malediction Shard.
03What setup style should I start with for Venenatis?
Start with a Ranged setup focused on consistency, then tune damage once your kill flow is stable. Build and test your own setup in the Gear Picker before long trips.
04Is Venenatis good for profit?
Venenatis can be strong for profit depending on your kill consistency, trip length, and unique drop luck. Prioritize repeatable clears over risky max-DPS setups.
05How should I use Gear Picker for Venenatis?
Create one baseline loadout, one safer sustain loadout, and one upgraded version. Share each link so you can compare and discuss setups quickly.
06Should I use Best in Slot Finder or Gear Picker for Venenatis?
Use Best in Slot Finder for recommendation-first starting points, then use Gear Picker to build and refine the exact setup you will actually run.
