The Golem is an Intermediate short quest that rewards 1,000 Thieving experience and 1,000 Crafting experience. It requires 20 Crafting, 25 Thieving.

Items Needed
- Vial
- Pestle and mortar
- Papyrus (can be bought from Ali Morrisane for 10gp)
- 4 soft clay (or a bracelet of clay and a pickaxe to mine north-west of the ruins)
- Phoenix feather (can be obtained north-west of the ruins)
- Means to enter the desert (such as the Shantay pass, Teleport tablets or scrolls, Fairy rings or the Pharaoh's sceptre)
Recommended
- Protective clothing for the desert heat (Desert boots, Desert robe, Desert shirt)
- Waterskins
- Stamina or energy potions
- Fast travel to several locations:
- Uzer to start the quest plus one additional trip - necklace of passage to Eagles' Eyrie or fairy ring
- Digsite (1 trip) - digsite pendant, Digsite Teleport or gnome glider
- Varrock Museum (1 trip) - Varrock Teleport
- Hammer and chisel to remove gems from the throne
- Equipment to complete several optional Achievement Diary tasks:
- A pickaxe for an easy Desert Diary task to mine clay
- A woodcutting axe for a medium Desert Diary to cut a Teak tree with 35 Woodcutting
- A bird snare for an easy Desert Diary task to catch a golden warbler with
Walkthrough

- Starting the quest. Travel to the Ruins of Uzer via the necklace of passage teleport to Eagle's Eyrie and run south-east. You can alternatively use a fairy ring and go north-east. Pick up and read the Letter west of the broken clay golem Talk to the golem.
- The statuette. Use the black mushroom on the pestle and mortar to get black dye. You can do this later if you don't have your pestle and mortar. Note: Take an extra black mushroom if you plan on completing Shadow of the Storm soon afterwards. Climb down the stairs in the ruins.
- The portal. Return to the Kharidian Desert (fairy ring ), or teleport to Eagle's Eyrie with Necklace of passage. If you still need the Phoenix feather, run north to the clay rocks east of River Elid and grab a feather from the Phoenix. Return to the ruins of Uzer where you started the quest and again go down the stairs.
- The golem. Go back upstairs and talk to the golem. With an empty vial in your inventory, grind the black mushroom using a Pestle and mortar. Use the phoenix feather on the black dye to make a phoenix quill pen.

- 2 cut rubies, emeralds, and sapphires (collect these by using a chisel and hammer on the throne)
- Unlock the carpet ride from Shantay Pass to Uzer
