- Investigate the thefts. Speak to Advisor Ghrim, talk to your spouse and King Vargas, then question Gardener Gunnhild, Queen Sigrid and Matilda.
- Prepare for the dungeon. Gear up at the Etceteria bank and bring an antipoison plus 5 coal (or 5 empty spaces).
- Enter the dungeon. Talk to Ghrim and the Sailor, get the regent's scroll from King Vargas, then climb down the courtyard ladder.
- Repair the lift. Talk to Donal, use the mining prop on the crevice, fill the engine with 5 coal and assemble the pulley beams and scaffold.
- Follow the trail. Use the lift, rope the rock in the tunnel, collect the diary and its pages and avoid the steam vents.
- Defeat the Giant Sea Snake. Enter the crevice, kill the level 149 Giant Sea Snake with Protect from Ranged and take the heavy box.
- Finish up. Return to Queen Sigrid for a letter and 20,000 coins, then talk to King Vargas.

Royal Trouble FAQ
01What are the Royal Trouble requirements?
Throne of Miscellania, Agility 40 and Slayer 40 (both boostable), plus the ability to kill the level 149 Giant Sea Snake.
02How do I get the 5 coal?
Bring it yourself or mine it later in the dungeon with the pick provided; mining near Miner Magnus gives nothing.
03What does Royal Trouble unlock?
Enhanced Managing Miscellania rewards and the ability to hire Bosun Zarah at Sailing 80.
04How much experience does Royal Trouble give?
5,000 experience each in Agility, Slayer and Hitpoints, plus 1 Quest point and 20,000 coins.
05How hard is the Giant Sea Snake?
It is level 149. Protect from Ranged and a poison cure are recommended, and 43 Prayer with prayer potions makes the fight much easier.
06How long does Royal Trouble take?
It is a Medium quest, with most of the time spent repairing the lift and navigating the dungeon.
07Should I do Royal Trouble before Managing Miscellania?
Yes. Royal Trouble raises the Managing Miscellania reward cap, so completing it before investing heavily gives much better returns from your workers.
