  1. Investigate the mansion. Talk to the Gossip and the guard outside Sinclair Mansion, then break in through the smashed east window. Take the scrap paper and address form and search the western bookcase for a black knight helm.
  2. The trial. Give the guard all three items, talk to the Gossip, then travel to the Seers' Village courthouse. Talk to Anna and call the Dog Handler, Butler and Maid as witnesses, asking each the required questions.
  3. Free Merlin. Talk to Anna in her cell, search the statue east of Camelot and talk to Merlin. Reach the vent, use Telekinetic Grab on the guard, then pick the cell door lock by adjusting the tumblers.
  4. The purple box. Climb to the top floor of the keep and search the table, choosing the round purple box second from the right.
  5. Animate rock scroll. Talk to Wizard Cromperty in Ardougne to receive the Animate rock scroll.
  6. Free King Arthur. Enter the Black Knights' Fortress in black armour, push the north wall and climb down. Use granite to free King Arthur and give him the bronze med helm and iron chainbody, then return to Camelot.

King's Ransom FAQ

02How do I open the cell door in King's Ransom?

Set all tumblers to their lowest height and try the lock. Any tumbler showing a green circle is correct; raise each other tumbler one step and retry until it opens.

03What does King's Ransom unlock?

The Knight Waves Training Grounds and, after completing it, the Chivalry and Piety prayers.

04How hard is King's Ransom?

It is an Experienced, Medium-length quest with no enemies to defeat; the main challenges are the courthouse questions, the cell-door tumbler puzzle and obtaining the Animate rock scroll.

06What do Chivalry and Piety do?

Chivalry (60 Prayer) and Piety (70 Prayer) are powerful melee prayers unlocked at the Knight Waves Training Grounds after King's Ransom. Piety gives larger Attack, Strength and Defence boosts than Chivalry.

07Is King's Ransom worth doing?

Yes; it is required for the Knight Waves Training Grounds and unlocks Chivalry and Piety, staples of melee combat, and it is required for Hard Morytania and Kandarin diary tasks.
