Getting Ahead is a short Intermediate quest that teaches you to mount a head and unlocks a Kebos Lowlands tannery. It needs 30 Crafting and 26 Construction.

- Bear fur, grey wolf fur, or fur
- Soft clay or a usable pickaxe
- Hammer
- Saw
- 2 normal planks
- At least 6 nails of any kind (more recommended)
- Knife
- Red dye
- Pot of flour
- Needle and thread (or a costume needle)
Recommended
- Combat level 45 and equipment to fight a level 82 beast
- Fast travel to the Farming Guild
- Optional items for extra dialogue (Nielan's journal, big bones, ensouled bear head, bearhead)
Walkthrough

- Start the quest. Talk to Gordon on his farm south of the Farming Guild, then speak to Mary inside the main building west of him.
- Track the beast. Use a pot of flour on the southern gate next to the cow pen, then follow the flour trail south past the bridge and west to the Kebos Lowlands mine.
- Kill the Headless Beast. Defeat the Headless Beast at the cave. Optionally mine clay and pick up two planks nearby while you are there, then report back to Gordon.
- Sculpt the heads. Speak to Mary, make a clay head with a knife, then report to Gordon. Make a fur head with needle and thread, report again, then make a bloody head with red dye and report once more.
- Mount the head. Use two planks and six nails to mount the bloody head in the Mounted Head Space on the wall south of the stairs.
- Finish the quest. Speak to Gordon one final time to complete the quest.
