King Black Dragon is a solo/small group in themiscellaneous bosses bracket. This encounter rewards practical loadout choices and repeatable mechanics more than flashy max-hit attempts.

KBD uses normal dragonfire plus shock, ice and poison dragonfire, each requiring more protection tiers than regular breath. Without protection his normal breath hits up to 65, while an anti-dragon shield with an antifire potion reduces the special breaths to 10. The special breaths apply secondary effects: shock drains all stats by two, poison inflicts poison starting at 8, and ice freezes you for six seconds.

For a first kill, bring an anti-dragon or dragonfire shield with antifire potions, protect from Magic and stay out of melee range so he cannot bite you. He is aggressive and may attack the moment you enter, so be ready as you climb down. The lair is a multicombat area but not itself Wilderness, so you cannot be attacked inside it.
