Abyssal Sire OSRS Boss Guide
Slayer Bosses - Medium difficulty
Updated September 2026
The Abyssal Sire is an 85 Slayer boss in the Abyssal Nexus, reached via fairy ring DIP and fought only on an abyssal demon task. It drops the Unsired, offered at the Font of Consumption for a shot at the Abyssal whip, Abyssal dagger, Abyssal bludgeon pieces or the Abyssal orphan pet. The fight is a three-phase loop of disabling its defences before you can damage it. This guide gives you a practical starting route, loadout direction, and decision-first checklist so you can get into consistent kills faster.

Boss Overview
Abyssal Sire is a slayer boss in theslayer bosses bracket. Slayer bosses reward route discipline across many task-driven runs.
In phase one the Sire sits on its throne behind four tentacle-protected respiratory systems, and you must kill all four to disable the tentacles. You can disorient it early by landing 75 Ranged or Magic damage or by hitting it with a Shadow spell. In phase two it walks out to melee you, and below 210 hitpoints it stops moving and floods the room with spawns and miasma.
For a first kill, bring a fast Ranged weapon for the vents alongside your melee weapon and keep auto-retaliate off. Damage dealt while it transitions between phases is halved, so do not panic when your hits look weak. Below 140 hitpoints it teleports you next to itself and detonates an area attack, so run at least two tiles immediately.
Your current setup should match your trip objective. If you are learning mechanics, favor sustain and control. If you are already consistent, add damage gradually.
Optimize for sustainable task throughput with low error rates.
How The Fight Works
Entry Setup
Open each run with a consistent setup routine to reduce avoidable errors.
Core Mechanic Loop
Use the same clean mechanic cycle each kill for Abyssal Sire before adding optimizations.
Trip Sustain
Preserve supplies with low-risk choices so your average trip value stays stable.
Bank and Repeat
Reset quickly, review one improvement point, and keep run volume high.
Kill Method
1. Clear the respiratory systems
The Sire has a damage-reducing shield. Kill its four respiratory systems (the tentacles that pull you in) with Ranged or Magic before you can deal real damage.
2. Attack through the vents
Once the systems are down, attack the Sire through the exposed vents. The fight loops between clearing respiratory systems and dealing damage windows.
3. Dodge the shadow and minions
Avoid the Sire's shadow attack and clear the Abyssal demon spawns quickly — they drag the kill out and drain supplies. Manage your positioning before each phase transition.
4. Loot the uniques
Abyssal bludgeon pieces (Axon, Claw, Spine) combine into the Bludgeon, plus the Abyssal dagger, Abyssal whip, and Abyssal orphan pet. Unsireds can be exchanged for Abyssal heads.
Prep Checklist
- Lock one stable loadout before you chase max DPS variants.
- Pre-plan your inventory around your expected trip length.
- Set one clear objective for each trip (KC, task, uniques, or practice).
- Match setup choices to your Slayer task and trip goals.
Recommended Loadout
Scythe for respiratory systems and Sire. BP for vents.

Mechanic Checklist
Trip consistency and mechanic rhythm beat all-in DPS greed.
- Turn auto-retaliate off: attacking the Sire's spawns wastes ticks and they respawn anyway.
- Kill all four respiratory systems to drop the tentacles before expecting any real damage on the Sire.
- Below 140 hitpoints it teleports you in for an AoE - run at least two tiles away the instant you land or take heavy damage.
Common Mistakes
- Over-prioritizing damage upgrades before mastering mechanics.
- Bringing too many switches and losing consistency under pressure.
- Staying too long on weak supplies and losing overall hourly value.
Progression Targets
- Stage 1: Build a reliable Abyssal Sire starter setup in Gear Picker and secure consistent clears.

Boss FAQ
01Does the Abyssal Bludgeon require 70 Strength to wield?
Yes. The Abyssal Bludgeon requires both 70 Attack and 70 Strength to wield, making it a strong mid-level crush weapon for bossing like the Nightmare or Cerberus.
02How do I damage the Abyssal Sire?
The Sire has a damage-reducing shield that you must disable by killing its four respiratory systems (the tentacles that pull you in). Kill each system, then attack the Sire through the vents to deal real damage. The fight loops between clearing respiratory systems and hitting the Sire until it dies.
03What are the Abyssal Sire's unique drops?
The Sire drops Abyssal Bludgeon pieces (Axon, Claw, and Spine) which combine into the Bludgeon, the Abyssal Dagger, Abyssal Whip, and the Abyssal orphan pet. Unsireds can also be exchanged for Abyssal Heads. Since the 2 September 2026 Summer Sweep-Up, Unsireds stack in the bank and roll their loot when used on the Font of Consumption, so you no longer need to keep them separate.
04What setup style should I start with for Abyssal Sire?
Start with a Melee + Magic Utility setup focused on consistency, then tune damage once your kill flow is stable. Build and test your own setup in the Gear Picker before long trips.
05Is Abyssal Sire good for profit?
Abyssal Sire can be strong for profit depending on your kill consistency, trip length, and unique drop luck. Prioritize repeatable clears over risky max-DPS setups.
06How should I use Gear Picker for Abyssal Sire?
Create one baseline loadout, one safer sustain loadout, and one upgraded version. Share each link so you can compare and discuss setups quickly.
07Should I use Best in Slot Finder or Gear Picker for Abyssal Sire?
Use Best in Slot Finder for recommendation-first starting points, then use Gear Picker to build and refine the exact setup you will actually run.
