- Here is what changed.
The September 2026 Summer Sweep-Up included a set of pet quality-of-life changes, and the 23 September update added more. If you chase pets or just like keeping one out while you play, here is everything that changed.
Pets Follow You Underwater Now
The biggest change is that more pets can stay out in underwater areas.
- You can now enter the Coral Farm at The Great Conch without banking your pet, matching the earlier change for the Fossil Island underwater area.
- The sea-related pets Soup, Tiny Tempor, and Lil'viathan now follow you underwater, like Pet Kraken and Pet Chaos Elemental already did.
- The only pets you still need to bank are ones that do not benefit from Probita's insurance service.
For players who boss or train underwater, that removes an annoying pre-trip step.
Pet Behaviour Improvements
The update also smoothed out pet behaviour so they interfere less with play.
- Pet behaviours were refined so pets settle and follow more predictably.
- The changes pair with a batch of Z-buffer fixes that stop scenery from clipping through floors and walls.
Neither change alters drop rates, but fewer pets darting under your character is a real quality-of-life win.
Insurance and Reclaim Changes
A small but welcome fix for anyone who has lost a pet.
- You can now find a replacement Medallion of the Deep even if you already have one stored in a STASH unit.
- Probita's insurance service remains free, subsidised by the Grand Exchange tax.
If you are still chasing the drop, estimate your grind with our Pet Odds Calculator or the drop rate guide.
Other Quality-of-Life Fixes
A few unrelated changes shipped alongside the pet work.
- The Wiki Lookup function now works while the Bank interface is open.
- On mobile, Wiki Lookup on a Grand Exchange item no longer freezes the client.
- Clue scrolls and clue boxes now stay on the ground longer when dropped in private boss instances, and Sarachnis now uses that behaviour.
How Pets Are Obtained
Nothing about how you get pets changed. Skilling pets roll off your XP drops, boss pets roll off the kill, and most drop rates sit between 1 in 1,000 and 1 in 5,000. Our Pet Odds Calculator works out your expected kills or actions for each one.
What to Do Now
- Take your pet out for underwater content again, no banking required.
- Re-check any pet reclaims you put off, since the Medallion fix helps.
- Keep chasing drop rates with the Pet Odds Calculator.
Small updates like these do not make headlines, but they remove friction from content you already run.
