Fight Caves OSRS Boss Guide
Challenges - Medium difficulty
Updated September 2026
TzTok-Jad is the boss of the TzHaar Fight Cave and the final wave-63 fight behind every Fire Cape. The cape is a permanent unlock used across countless setups, and Jad drops 8,032 Tokkul plus a 1/200 TzRek-Jad pet chance. For most accounts it is the first true test of prayer switching under one-hit-knockout pressure. This guide gives you a practical starting route, loadout direction, and decision-first checklist so you can get into consistent kills faster.

Boss Overview
Fight Caves is a wave challenge in thechallenges bracket. Challenge encounters reward clean execution and mistake recovery over pure damage output.
The Fight Cave is 62 waves of TzHaar monsters fought solo with no restocking, ending in TzTok-Jad on wave 63. Jad attacks with a magic fireball maxing 95, a ranged boulder maxing 97 and an instant melee bite maxing 97, each telegraphed by a different animation. The whole fight is therefore about reading the animation and switching protection before the hit lands.
For a first kill, ranged is the safest style because it keeps you out of melee range and removes the untelegraphed bite entirely. Kill the orange Ket-Zek early to learn Jad's spawn, stay at distance, and react to the rear-and-dangle magic tell. Below 150 hitpoints Jad summons four healers that repeatedly heal him, so tag and kill them without letting him return to full health.
Your current setup should match your trip objective. If you are learning mechanics, favor sustain and control. If you are already consistent, add damage gradually.
Prioritize completions first, then optimize speed once your clear rate is stable.
How The Fight Works
Entry and Setup
Start by setting your inventory rhythm and camera control before pressure ramps.
Mid Encounter Control
Prioritize safe positioning and threat order so each wave/phase stays manageable.
Resource Management
Use supplies reactively, not pre-emptively, so you have recovery options for mistakes.
Final Phase Execution
Close out Fight Caves with low-risk decisions and controlled swaps over panic DPS.
Prep Checklist
- Lock one stable loadout before you chase max DPS variants.
- Pre-plan your inventory around your expected trip length.
- Set one clear objective for each trip (KC, task, uniques, or practice).
- Prioritize survival and wave control over greed damage.
Recommended Loadout
Prayer flick the healers. Stay calm during Jad phase — one action per pray swap.

Mechanic Checklist
Your consistency in wave control, resource pacing, and panic-free decisions is the biggest DPS increase.
- Fight Jad at range so you only have to read the magic and ranged animations, never the instant melee bite.
- Tag the four Yt-HurKots one at a time: if you distract them before they heal Jad to full, the ones you kill will not respawn.
- Track where the orange Ket-Zek spawned during the waves - Jad always appears on that tile, so you can pre-position.
Common Mistakes
- Over-prioritizing damage upgrades before mastering mechanics.
- Bringing too many switches and losing consistency under pressure.
- Staying too long on weak supplies and losing overall hourly value.
Progression Targets
- Stage 1: Build a reliable Fight Caves starter setup in Gear Picker and secure consistent clears.
- Stage 2: Optimize trip length through cleaner mechanics and inventory control.
- Stage 3: Add a stronger DPS variant and compare real run outcomes.
- Stage 4: Finalize a shareable Fight Caves loadout set for your ongoing route.
Notable Drops
- Fire cape
- Tokkul
- Jad pet chance
