Dagannoth Rex is the Melee-based Dagannoth King and the only source of the Berserker ring and Warrior ring, along with a share of the Dragon axe. He roams the south-eastern side of the lair and has extremely low Magic Defence, so he is the classic safe-spot target for mages. He is often the first king newer players learn to solo. Dagannoth Rex is a boss trio in thedagannoth kings bracket. Dagannoth Kings reward rotation control and combat-style coordination.

Rex uses only melee, so the standard method is to trap him on one of the lair's ridges and safe-spot him from a distance while Spinolyps chip at you. His very low Magic Defence means even negative magic attack bonus setups land consistently, which is why tanky Barrows magic gear works so well here. The rest of the room holds the other two kings, so pull direction matters.

For a first kill, stay in the south-eastern part of the arena where Prime rarely wanders, lure Rex onto a ridge, and keep Protect from Melee up. If you drag him too far west you will aggro Prime and Supreme at once, so only commit to the kill when he is nearest the east. He is weak enough that a cheap trident is plenty.

Your current setup should match your trip objective. If you are learning mechanics, favor sustain and control. If you are already consistent, add damage gradually.
