Chambers of Xeric OSRS Boss Guide
Raids - Hard difficulty
Updated September 2026
The Chambers of Xeric was Old School's first raid and remains its most valuable: the Twisted bow, Kodai insignia, Elder maul, Ancestral robes and the Dexterous and Arcane prayer scrolls all come from its unique table. Layouts are semi-random and scale from solo up to 100 players, so you can farm it at almost any team size. Points earned from combat, skilling and potion-making determine your rolls. This guide gives you a practical starting route, loadout direction, and decision-first checklist so you can get into consistent kills faster.

Boss Overview
Chambers of Xeric is a raid in theraids bracket. Raid encounters reward communication, role clarity, and clean transitions between mechanics.
Every raid has two skilling and combat floors plus a fixed final floor housing the Great Olm. Making overloads from Noxifer, cooking food and building storage units all add participation points, and those points are what turn the Ancient Chest purple. Dying costs you 40% of your personal points, so staying alive is directly profitable rather than just good practice.
For a first raid, keep your role simple: help clear rooms, brew overloads, and learn Olm's three hand-and-head phases from behind the pillars. Use the left and right teleports to rotate between the melee and magic hands, and remember that the fire wall must be walked through as it closes in rather than outrun.
Your current setup should match your trip objective. If you are learning mechanics, favor sustain and control. If you are already consistent, add damage gradually.
Build repeatable clears before attempting speed-focused setups.

Mechanic Checklist
A stable team plan beats ad-hoc adaptation in long sessions.
- Make and drink Overloads from Noxifer - they are the biggest points-per-dose source and also protect you from most damage.
- Build a storage unit early so the team can share tools, herbs and potions without dropping items on the floor.
- At the Great Olm, stand behind the far pillar to avoid the crystal burst and run through the flame wall instead of trying to outrun it.
Common Mistakes
- Over-prioritizing damage upgrades before mastering mechanics.
- Bringing too many switches and losing consistency under pressure.
- Staying too long on weak supplies and losing overall hourly value.
- Trying to speedrun before your baseline clear is stable.
- Starting runs without clear communication on room flow.

Boss FAQ
01How did the August 2026 update change CoX loot?
Summer Sweep-Up batch 2 (12 August 2026) reweighted the unique table. Prayer Scrolls dropped from 20/69 to 14/60 weight in regular raids (12/56 in Challenge Mode) - about 20% rarer per purple in regular and 26% rarer in CM - while Ancestral pieces rose from 3/69 to 4/60 (4/56 in CM), making them roughly 54% more common per purple. Every other unique kept its weight but became proportionally more common as the table shrank. The Twisted Bow is now 3.3% per purple in regular raids (was 2.9%).
02Is Challenge Mode worth doing for uniques now?
Yes. CM has a smaller total weight (56 vs 60), so every unique is more likely per purple and Prayer Scrolls are rarer (21.4% vs 23.3%). Combined with CM's higher purple rate overall, it's the strongest path to endgame uniques if you can clear it efficiently. Use the CoX Reward Calculator to model expected value with current GE prices.
03How many purples does the Ancestral set take after the rework?
Each Ancestral piece is 4/60 (6.7%) per purple in regular mode, so expect roughly 27-28 purples to complete the set on average (about 26 in Challenge Mode) - a major improvement over the pre-August table which averaged over 40 purples.
04What setup style should I start with for Chambers of Xeric?
Start with a Tribrid setup focused on consistency, then tune damage once your kill flow is stable. Build and test your own setup in the Gear Picker before long trips.
05Is Chambers of Xeric good for profit?
Chambers of Xeric can be strong for profit depending on your kill consistency, trip length, and unique drop luck. Prioritize repeatable clears over risky max-DPS setups.
06How should I use Gear Picker for Chambers of Xeric?
Create one baseline loadout, one safer sustain loadout, and one upgraded version. Share each link so you can compare and discuss setups quickly.
07Should I use Best in Slot Finder or Gear Picker for Chambers of Xeric?
Use Best in Slot Finder for recommendation-first starting points, then use Gear Picker to build and refine the exact setup you will actually run.
