The Chosen Commander is the finale of the Dorgeshuun questline, backported from 2009. Jagex announced it at RuneFest 2026 and polled it as a Master quest, upgraded from the original's Experienced tier.
It is not live yet. This page covers the confirmed requirements, rewards and post-quest content.

Requirements
| Requirement | Level |
|---|---|
| Agility | 58 |
| Thieving | 54 |
| Strength | 46 |
| Quest | Land of the Goblins |
| Recommended combat | 80+ |
The quest continues Zanik's story. She has been missing since Land of the Goblins, when she was pulled into a mysterious box.
Rewards
XP Lamps
- 40,000 Agility XP
- 40,000 Strength XP
- 40,000 Thieving XP
Three separate lamps, so you can spread them across the skills or push one goal.
Zanik's Modified Crossbow
A crossbow with the rune crossbow statline, a lower Prayer bonus and a special attack.
- Special attack: Defiance.
- Costs 75% special attack energy.
- Raises your minimum hit to 50% of your maximum hit.
- If the target is at full health and full Defence, your accuracy roll is guaranteed to be the maximum possible.
- A successful hit reduces the target's Defence by 10% plus the damage dealt.
- In PvP, the minimum hit only rises if the target is at full health and Defence.
It is a niche weapon, but the guaranteed accuracy roll makes it interesting against high-Defence targets and for players who do not have a better crossbow.
Post-Quest Content
Bandos' Throne Room
You can return to the throne room after the quest and fight goblin, ork, ogre and ourg statues. The higher-tier statues are intended to work like Tormented Demons: more involved than a normal NPC, with a drop aimed at late-game players. The reward has not been designed or polled yet.
New Agility Course
Dorgesh-Kaan gets a new Agility course, similar to the post-quest RuneScape version but retuned for Old School. The exact XP rates are not confirmed.
The Gasworks
A new activity where you use buckets of sand to craft tools and trinkets with a machine that combines Dwarven and Cave Goblin technology.
- Offers Crafting and Firemaking XP.
- Builds reputation with the Cave Goblins.
- Unlocks exclusive rewards, similar in structure to the Giant's Foundry.
- Rewards are not final.
What It Means for You
- Quest cape chasers: a Master quest with three 40k lamps and a new crossbow.
- Rangers: Zanik's Modified Crossbow is a budget option with a useful accuracy spec, not a new best-in-slot.
- Skillers: the Agility course and Gasworks give Dorgesh-Kaan a reason to exist beyond the quest.
- Ironmen: the Thieving and Agility lamps are the headline, and the crossbow is easy to obtain.
The quest is polled, not dated. Jagex has not announced a release window beyond "when it is ready".
