  • Daeyalt double shards, 1-nightshade poison dynamite, log-basket traps and a compost overlay
  • Every Gathering Efficiencies change from 23 September 2026, and what it means for your grind.

The 23 September 2026 update was the latest round of Jagex's Gathering Efficiencies changes, a rolling set of quality-of-life fixes for skilling. This batch touches Daeyalt mining, Poison Dynamite, traps, farming, and Sailing.

Here is every change and what it means for your grind.

Daeyalt Shards Now Double With the Celestial Ring

The headline change is for anyone mining Daeyalt Essence for Runecrafting XP.

  • The Celestial Ring's and Celestial Signet's Mining enhancer effect now applies to Daeyalt Shards.
  • On a successful Mining action you get a 1 in 10 chance to receive double the shards.
  • The Ring is included, not just the upgraded Signet, so you do not need to have upgraded it.

If you use the mining guide for Daeyalt, this nudges the effective shards per hour up noticeably.

Noted Daeyalt Essence

Converting shards is now friendlier on inventory space.

  • You can claim noted Daeyalt Essence when converting shards.
  • Toggle it by speaking to Noranna Tytanin in the Daeyalt Essence Mine.
  • Ultimate Ironmen always receive essence in their inventory, but can choose noted or unnoted.

Poison Dynamite Needs One Nightshade

Making Poison Dynamite is far less painful now.

  • Creating Poison Dynamite requires 1 Nightshade or Cave Nightshade instead of 3.
  • This roughly triples your output from the same herbs.

If you use our Ironman Herblore Calculator, this makes the dynamite route much easier to sustain.

Traps Work With Your Log Basket

Hunter setup is faster for trap-based training.

  • You can now build Deadfall and Pitfall traps from logs stored in your Log Basket.
  • Logs in your inventory are still consumed first, so the basket is a backup supply.

Stock up at the bank and spend less time racing back to respawns. See the hunter guide for trap spots.

Compost Overlay in the Official Client

The official client now shows farming patch compost state at a glance.

  • A visual indicator appears on patches showing whether and what tier of compost is used.
  • C means composted, U ultracompost, S supercompost, and E empty.
  • Toggle it under Settings → Activities → Farming compost overlay, and pick your colour.

This brings the official client closer to the common RuneLite plugins, and helps farming runs at a glance.

Cooking at the Nex Bank

You can now light a fire at the Nex bank area, so you can cook food on the spot before the fight. This is a particular win for Ultimate Ironmen.

Sailing Fish in the Hitpoints Guide

The Sailing fish added to the game are now listed in the Healing tab of the Hitpoints skill guide: Giant krill, Haddock, Yellowfin, Halibut, Bluefin, and Marlin. That makes them easier to compare against standard food.

Still to Come

Jagex confirmed the remaining Gathering Efficiencies changes, including stackable net traps, are still on the list and will ship when the weekly schedule allows. We will update the hunter guide when they land.

What to Do Now

  1. Grab your Celestial Ring before your next Daeyalt session.
  2. Swap to the 1-nightshade Poison Dynamite recipe.
  3. Enable the compost overlay and top up your Log Basket before Hunter tasks.

Small changes like these add up over a grind, and most need no new unlocks.
